I Love Chania

It never fails to amaze me how quickly time can pass without me realising it! Already it has been two weeks since I wrote my last post and thinking back, I have to really concentrate on remembering everything I’ve done during this period of time.

First and foremost springing to mind is the visit I had from some customers who have now become good friends – Paul and Sheila Vernier and their son John. Continue reading

My Seashell Pictures are Still Popular with the Tourists, Despite Increased Prices!

Since Nick returned to the UK life has quickly resumed to normal again. I have had two more selling days on the beach in Almyrida – despite the wind – because frankly, I cannot afford not to. At this time of year my bank account is at its lowest so I am desperate to start making money by selling my Seashell Mosaics and Collages to the tourists that have been flooding into Almyrida. Almyrida Comes to Life Again!

I have been having a great time this past week! I have also been getting the rest I so badly needed, enjoying sunny beachcombing days and lunches out with Nick. Easter weekend was spent with lots of friends and frivolity, over-indulging in both food and alcohol. On Easter Saturday at midnight we all watched Judas burn in the great fire in Plaka Square, as is the usual tradition here on Crete. I wrote about it in more detail last year. Continue reading

Taking Our Health For Granted

Not being able to do all the things I want and usually do these last few weeks, has really made me think about my health – as it has been and how it might be in the future. I can see how eating a healthy and well balanced diet really does help but I still have to make some changes and I really want to put some weight back on.  So I have formulated a plan for the summer months and I intend to stick to it! Fortunate to be in Good Hands

I feel as though I have been on an uncomfortable rollercoaster these past several days -I have been in a bad way! My joint problem appeared to be improving – great news! However, an unfortunate side-effect of the Co-Codamol gave me equally as much pain and discomfort, in fact so much discomfort that I will never take a Co-Codamol again, for as long as I live! Continue reading

All kinds of Painting

I have been very busy, as usual, continuing to build up my stock of seashell mosaics and collages and also preparing for the website. David (my fellow artist friend whom I exhibit with) and I share a website to showcase our art. David is busy re-vamping the site and I am trying to re-take photographs of my 3D canvases, which is more difficult than you can imagine! Continue reading

Still Enjoying the Winter Sun!

The weather here in Crete has been just wonderful! Nearly every day has been sunny and warm, saving me money on Calor Gas bottles and hot water (which of course is heated by the sun through solar panels on the roof). So when the sun has crept onto my balcony in the afternoons – from then until sundown I have been working there most days. Continue reading

Lucky, Lucky Me!

We’ve had some bad weather recently but today it’s been warm and sunny again! When I got up this morning I just wanted to be outside and in it! So I took myself off to lovely Kalives beach which is only ten minutes away. I spent a couple of blissful hours picking shells in the sunshine, on the warm sand – the whole beach to myself! Oh lucky, lucky me! Continue reading
