It’s been a tough week – both emotionally and physically. Paul’s passing has left me reeling and I’ve had to cope with three days of monotonous railings to paint. It’s so frustrating when you’ve just spent four or five hours painstakingly glossing the damn things – when the wind decides to gust seemingly out of nowhere, and proceeds to coat them all in twigs, flowers, leaves and flies! These last ten days back on Crete have been as busy as ever. I’ve been catching up with close friends and finding out how their Christmas and New Year celebrations went. What a cracking day yesterday’s Almyrida Xmas Fayre was! This is a charity event in aid of the poor and needy children in the area and always raises a substantial amount of money. Well it’s been another eventful week. The day my birthday falls on is also my Name Day here. In Greece a person’s Name Day is more important than their Birthday and the fact that they fall on the same day is quite significant I think – another sign that Crete is part of my destiny and also feels like my spiritual home. After spending my three week holiday living the outdoor life, admiring the views, enjoying all the places I’ve been to and really appreciating nature – I am itching to start “working with nature” again.

Well it’s the end of July and it’s been another record month for sales. The tourists have been flooding back to Crete after the previous year’s depleted numbers. Last year the British and European media had been negative towards Greece almost all of 2012. Continue reading
