It’s been a tough week – both emotionally and physically. Paul’s passing has left me reeling and I’ve had to cope with three days of monotonous railings to paint. It’s so frustrating when you’ve just spent four or five hours painstakingly glossing the damn things – when the wind decides to gust seemingly out of nowhere, and proceeds to coat them all in twigs, flowers, leaves and flies! A Difficult and Monotonous Job
These last ten days back on Crete have been as busy as ever. I’ve been catching up with close friends and finding out how their Christmas and New Year celebrations went. Then there’s always lots of work to do where my seashell mosaics are concerned. After taking three weeks off, I am eager to step up production again. Continue reading
Elafonisi is so Beautiful!
I can’t believe how quickly the time is passing and that it’s only 8 more days before I return to the UK for 3 weeks of Christmas and New Year. I can’t wait! I can’t wait to see my lovely girls again and I feel so lucky to be part of such a large and happy family because when we all get together it’s just one big party! Continue reading
The Annual Almyrida Xmas Fayre.
What a cracking day yesterday’s Almyrida Xmas Fayre was! This is a charity event in aid of the poor and needy children in the area and always raises a substantial amount of money. It was a whole day filled with meeting people I’d not seen for a while as well as all the people I do see regularly and meeting a few new people too! Continue reading
Dancing the Night Away!
Well it’s been another eventful week. The day my birthday falls on is also my Name Day here. In Greece a person’s Name Day is more important than their Birthday and the fact that they fall on the same day is quite significant I think – another sign that Crete is part of my destiny and also feels like my spiritual home. Continue reading
Painting Villas Instead of Pictures!
It’s been almost two weeks since my last post and so I need to write up on what’s been happening in my life lately.
I recently completed another version of my fisherman and his boat. I sold the first one I made at the exhibition in Chania last May. Continue reading
Working With Nature
After spending my three week holiday living the outdoor life, admiring the views, enjoying all the places I’ve been to and really appreciating nature – I am itching to start “working with nature” again.
I really do appreciate living in such a beautiful area of Crete. It inspires me to incorporate what I see into my artworks. Yes, I’m lucky to be living here but actually, I made it all happen! Continue reading
Excited about my Holiday in Spain!
This blog should have been entered days ago but, as always happens with me – I get side-tracked!
My good friend Lisa has returned to Crete – this time to stay. I am so pleased to have her back and we have already enjoyed one of our ‘girly’ nights out. She has also been keeping me company whilst I’ve been selling on the beach, chatting the whole time to bring me up-to-date on all her news. Continue reading
Too busy to write!
While I write this I am sitting here watching the beautiful sunset again. I am taking a welcome breather but I still have heaps to do.
I am literally rushed off my feet with work and cannot produce my seashell mosaics and collages fast enough! Continue reading
Welcome Back to Crete!
Well it’s the end of July and it’s been another record month for sales. The tourists have been flooding back to Crete after the previous year’s depleted numbers. Last year the British and European media had been negative towards Greece almost all of 2012. Continue reading
