Excited about my Holiday in Spain!

This blog should have been entered days ago but, as always happens with me – I get side-tracked!
My good friend Lisa has returned to Crete – this time to stay. I am so pleased to have her back and we have already enjoyed one of our ‘girly’ nights out. She has also been keeping me company whilst I’ve been selling on the beach, chatting the whole time to bring me up-to-date on all her news.

I cannot believe how fast the summer season has flown by. This Monday just gone was my last selling day on the beach. This is because I fly back to the UK tonight for a few days and then I am off to Javea in Spain to visit my Mum for a week with my sisters, Karen and Leonie. This is our annual family get-together and as usual, we are all really excited! I wrote about this in my earlier blog titled “Family Visits”. I know I am seriously ready for a total break from producing my seashell mosaics and collages. It will be lovely to have some more quality time with my Mum and sisters. We always have such good fun when we all get together and I can’t wait!

I have been so busy these past couple of months that I haven’t even been to my local taverna in Plaka – Vangeli’s. My friend, Patrick sent me an email insisting I pop in early doors for a chance to catch up with some friends I’ve not seen lately. So last night I did just that and discovered that another friend, Alison is returning to the UK on the same flight as me. However, what I didn’t know was that there is a general strike planned for today and that it may include the air traffic controllers. I started to think of the knock-on effect this would have on all my carefully laid out plans for the next few days. Shopping for much needed supplies to bring back to Crete and catching up with old friends before I leave for Spain. Not least of all, the fact that my sister, Karen has to drive to Leeds/Bradford to pick me up because I couldn’t get a flight back into Manchester without paying a small fortune! If we are delayed it could be well into the wee hours of tomorrow morning before we can finally get some sleep.

Thankfully there are people in the ‘know’ who are keeping me posted and so far – so good. It would appear that only certain public sector workers are striking and they don’t include the air traffic controllers. Anyway – fingers crossed!
So once again, I will not be able to write this blog during the two weeks I am away. I will not be taking my laptop due to luggage restrictions but promise to ‘tell all’ soon after my return on 2nd October.
