These past few weeks The Greek Crisis has been the topic of everyone’s conversations when you meet them. All the Greeks and Ex-Pats who live here on Crete are naturally concerned about all the changes Greece is facing and all the changes the Greek people must make to survive bankruptcy and who knows what else?! The Magic of Matala Beach Music Festival.
Following my successful exhibition in Chania I’ve gone back to selling by the beach in Almyrida. But like the previous two years, June has seen some pretty unsettled weather so far. I completely missed one selling day and the whole morning of another – due to heavy downpours! That said, it now appears to have stabilized and is back to normal with wall to wall sunshine again. Continue reading
My Best Exhibition Ever!
Oh how the time flies by when you are enjoying life! Shortly after Emma and Ash’s return to the UK I received the surprising but wonderful news that I am to become a Nana in November! Emma is going to have a baby! They hadn’t planned for it, having only just set a rough date for their wedding next year, but they are nonetheless thrilled to bits and I can hardly contain my own excitement! So it looks like I’ll be paying an early visit back to the UK this year – to see and be with my first grandchild! Continue reading
Happily Planning for a Big Family Wedding in Crete!
There’s been so much I’ve wanted to write about – but no time in which to do it! My life is always so full anyway but right now it’s all about family. I have exciting news to impart which you will already have gathered from my heading of this post and I shall go into more detail about it later… Continue reading
My Little Pieces of Heaven.
Finally we have had some sunny and settled weather for the past couple of weeks, as winter does seem to have dragged out for longer this year. We had to keep cancelling days we were going to decorate because of rain and my whole schedule has had to be worked around these decorating days. Continue reading
My Dilemma!
I can honestly say that all I have to write about this time is work (how boring, you probably think to yourself!) Actually it’s not boring because I love and enjoy working on my art, not so much the other work I have to do – but more of that later!
I have a dilemma which I have been pondering over for the past two years. After five successful selling years with too many popular designs to meet demand and not enough time to progress new ideas, I am in a quandary! Continue reading
Almyrida Flooded After Big Storm Hits!
After Nick went back, at first the weather was settled and warm so I returned to my winter job of painting and decorating – all outside work. This time (unfortunately) I did two days of painting awful black railings. However, about ten days ago it all changed and we had horrendous storms that heavy rains and gusty winds had whipped up. Continue reading
Walking in the Snowy Mountains
It seems to me to be all about contrasts since I returned from the UK. Living in Crete is so much less hectic and more peaceful compared with the sheer volume of people, traffic, shops and buildings that I have recently experienced during my stay in the UK. I notice this every year and I have come home again to Crete with a smug feeling of relief and real freedom. Continue reading
A Fab End to 2014 and a Wonderful Start for 2015!
I had the best time in the UK over Christmas and New Year. It was packed with social engagements of quality time with my family and friends. My two weeks were filled to the brim with happiness, laughter, fun and yet more wonderful memories to cherish!
Not one day was I poorly, my preparations for the flights over having paid off, thankfully! What a contrast it was to last year, when I just wasn’t feeling like myself. I couldn’t have asked for a better time. Continue reading
A Very Happy Christmas to Everyone!
I couldn’t return to the UK without a final post, though this will be a very brief one! I leave at the crack of dawn tomorrow and I am just so excited! I am just a big kid really! Continue reading
