The Annual Almyrida Xmas Fayre.

What a cracking day yesterday’s Almyrida Xmas Fayre was! This is a charity event in aid of the poor and needy children in the area and always raises a substantial amount of money. It was a whole day filled with meeting people I’d not seen for a while as well as all the people I do see regularly and meeting a few new people too! Continue reading

The Struggling Artist

Thursday night’s Thanksgiving dinner at Jeff’s was amazing!  It really was like a Christmas dinner with all the trimmings!  Fabulous turkey roasted American style with stuffing that was a meal in itself.  Before it was served we chatted outside while admiring the amazing view and played a little pool, which was good fun!  But after the meal we were all goosed and yawning!  Apparently Turkey possesses a chemical that induces tiredness – never knew that before and it surely explains why everybody wants a nap after their enormous Chritmas dinners! My Mum’s Beachcombing Tale.

My Mum is amazing! She is 76… or 77 – I can’t remember now, fighting fit and no challenge is ever too big for her! No way does she look her age!
When I was over at Mum’s in Javea, in September, I showed her all the shells that I’d picked up from The Arenal – her local beach and she said she would go and pick more of the same and then bring them over to the UK with her at Christmas. Continue reading

Roaring Success for New Masseuse!

I haven’t done much this past week, apart from working. Ian and I finished off the villa painting on Tuesday and the rest of the time I’ve been continuing with my stock build of Seashell Mosaics & Collages.
I did have a lovely day of beachcombing in Bali on Friday with two girlfriends, Jackie and Pauline.  Continue reading

Fun Nights Out!

In my last blog I mentioned that I hadn’t been out much lately but on Saturday I was in the mood for socialising with friends and enjoying a few glasses of wine. So at 6.30pm I kicked off the evening at my local Taverna, Vangeli’s.  I had a couple of glasses of wine and a bite to eat whilst catching up with all the local gossip. Everyone was relaying where they were and what they were doing when the earthquake struck the Saturday before! Continue reading

Working With Nature

After spending my three week holiday living the outdoor life, admiring the views, enjoying all the places I’ve been to and really appreciating nature – I am itching to start “working with nature” again.
I really do appreciate living in such a beautiful area of Crete. It inspires me to incorporate what I see into my artworks. Yes, I’m lucky to be living here but actually, I made it all happen! Continue reading

My Holiday Continues!

I’ve had yet another fab, fab week! How lucky I am to have had these last three weeks to just rest and chill! Perfect at the end of what has been a very busy summer season.

This past week the weather on Crete has been wonderful. Really warm and sunny with just a light breeze keeping temperatures so comfortable to relax in. I have had such a lovely time with Nick. We’ve had three whole days where we’ve just chilled on a quiet sandy beach, listening to music, chatting, having a drink at one of the beach bars and soaking up the atmosphere and the views.
