My Holiday Continues!

I’ve had yet another fab, fab week! How lucky I am to have had these last three weeks to just rest and chill! Perfect at the end of what has been a very busy summer season.

This past week the weather on Crete has been wonderful. Really warm and sunny with just a light breeze keeping temperatures so comfortable to relax in. I have had such a lovely time with Nick. We’ve had three whole days where we’ve just chilled on a quiet sandy beach, listening to music, chatting, having a drink at one of the beach bars and soaking up the atmosphere and the views.

First we visited Bali, a resort area an hour’s drive from Almyrida. There are three separate beaches there with a forth incorporating a small harbour. So pretty! I could have kicked myself for not taking any photos! We started off with a hearty brunch at my favourite Taverna on the first beach. Bali is a great place for me to go beachcombing and I did! But there are still quite a few tourists about and I don’t usually find many shells at this time of the year. I still loved it though! However, the walking we did up and down hundreds of steps and steep hills to reach the different beaches, was exhausting, especially in the sunshine! It was all well worth it though, a thoroughly enjoyable day out!

A couple of days later we went to Georgoupolis which boasts such a long, wide and sandy beach to lay our towels on, that we felt as though we had the whole beach to ourselves! Later we stopped by Mike’s Oasis for lunch and read the papers; well I did some Sudoku too.

We had lunches and afternoons enjoying all that Almyrida has to offer, including delicious crepes at Francois for a snack and then Bami and Nasi Goreng at Captain Jack’s for dinner followed by a fun evening with friends.

Another day we visited the long sandy beach at Kalives. Of course I couldn’t resist a little beachcombing again but it was just so idyllic that I have to admit I spent more time chilling on my towel on the sand, chatting with Nick and listening to the waves lapping on the beach, than I did beachcombing. It was sheer bliss!

Now it’s over and I am sad again. I took Nick back to the airport this afternoon and I miss his company already. But what a perfect end to my perfect three weeks of rest, relaxation, fun, laughter and stimulating conversation…. all spent with a lot of the most important people in my life. Wonderful!
